Katherine J. Wimmer, CFA, CIC President
Prior to founding Wimmer Associates, Kathy was a Principal at a local advisory firm providing investment counseling to individuals, family groups, foundations and endowments. She previously served as a portfolio manager and Vice President at Payden & Rygel Investment Counsel in Los Angeles advising both institutions and individuals on fixed income accounts. Kathy began her investment career at the Wall Street firm of Warburg Paribas Becker in 1980 and held an equity analyst position at William O'Neil and Company. She holds an MBA degree from the University of Virginia, The Darden School. Kathy is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)and Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC). She is active in the Pasadena community serving as past Chairs on the Planned Giving Advisory Council of the Huntington Memorial Hospital and the Pasadena Public Library Commission. Kathy is the current Treasurer of the San Rafael Library Associates and is on the Executive Committee of the Estate Planning Council of San Gabriel Valley. She was also a founding Board Member and Treasurer of the Bloom Again Foundation.
Kathryn B. Kenney Vice President of Operations
Kate was previously with the investment firm of Metropolitan West where she managed the compliance department for ten years. Before Metropolitan West, Kate held managerial positions in operations and administration for both Prudential Securities and Thomson McKinnon Securities .She is responsible for the day to day operations of Wimmer Associates, including compliance, trading, and reporting, and with over twenty years of experience in the securities industry is a valuable resource for our clients.Kate attended local schools, including Alverno Heights Academy and the University of California at Los Angeles.She was an active volunteer at the Scripps Home in Altadena and is a current member of the Huntington Library.
Alice Y. Wong, CFA, CPA Research Analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager Alice brings over twenty years experience of investment analysis and accounting to Wimmer Associates. She was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997 and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1992. Prior to joining our firm, Alice was a Research Analyst at Payden & Rygel Investment Counsel for eleven years with a specialty in municipal and corporate credits. She began her career in accounting spending seven years in the auditing and taxation fields. Born in Hong Kong, Alice enjoys living in Southern California where she is an avid collector of gemstones and minerals.
Ellen J. Ceaser, CFA Research Analyst Ellen brings over twenty-five years of investment experience to Wimmer Associates. Prior to joining Wimmer Associates, she was a Vice President and Director of Equity Research at ML Stern & Co., a division of Southwest Securities. Previously, Ellen held positions as an equity analyst at Crowell Weedon & Company, William O’Neil & Co. and PSFS (The Philadelphia Savings Fund Society). In addition, she was an external researcher providing equity investment ideas for Friess Associates, the managers of the Brandywine Funds. She began her investment career at Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia doing private placement bond offerings. Ellen graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1974 with a BS in Business Administration and received her MBA in Finance from Drexel University in 1978. She earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1983.
Warren R. Wimmer, MSFS Energy and Banking Analyst
Warren graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1979 with a B.A. in Political Science. He received the M.S. in Foreign Service award at Georgetown University in 1983 with an emphasis on Energy and Natural Resources. Warren co-authored the World Bank volume, Attracting Foreign Investment in Lesser Developed Countries.Returning to his native California, Warren had a fifteen year career in international banking.Warren is an active volunteer and is the current President on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Housing and Healing/Serra Project.
Jan R. Wimmer Junior Research Analyst
Jan joined the firm after working as a summer intern for two years. He attended Tulane University where he majored in Political Science and was on the college Debate Team. Jan has enjoyed coaching high school and middle school students in the art of debate. He is currently working on Level I of the CFA exam.
W. David Niebuhr, CFA Senior Adviser
Dave brings over forty years of investing expereince to Wimmer Associates. Dave graduated from the University of Kansas in 1964 with a B.A. in Mathematics. He received an MBA in Finance and an M.S. in Statistics in 1969 from Stanford University. While there, he co-authored several published papers in the areas of finance and computers. Dave has been a Senior Vice President of Research at Scudder, Stevens and Clark and at U.S. Trust of California. He was also West Coast Director of Research for Scudder and has been a research consultant for several LA. based investment counseling firms. He is a member of CFA Institute, IEEE and the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts and has taught CFA Review courses as a part of a USC-LASFA program.
Robert W. Templeton, CFA, CIC Senior Adviser
Bob is a forty-year veteran of the investment management business. He spent the first twenty–two years at Scudder, Stevens and Clark, the last three as a managing director. Bob spent the next eight at George D. Bjurman and Associates as an executive vice president, and the next ten as President of his own firm, RWT Investment Advisers. He has had extensive experience with many types of institutional and individual client relationships. Bob has a BA from CarletonCollege and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC). Bob is a member of Town Hall and The World Affairs Council and is a member of the Board of Councilors of the Phi Beta Kappa Society of Southern California.
